W
elcome to the latest edition of BrainMatters magazine, bringing you timely information on brain-healthy living
and ways to optimize your well-being.
A century of growth would not have been possible without the generosity and dedication of our donors, volunteers,
staff, residents and their families. As such, we are pleased to bring you part two of our centennial
BrainMatters series
in 2018, which honours those who have made a lasting impact on the people we serve at Baycrest and beyond.
In our cover story, we invite you to meet two-time Grammy Award-nominated electronic music producer Steve Aoki.
His songs have been streamed more than two billion times and his tens of millions of fans on social media follow
him for both his music and his philanthropic work in brain health. This summer, he teamed up with the Baycrest
Foundation as a special celebrity artist for the
2018 Yogen Früz Pinkberry Brain Project to raise awareness and funds
for our research into dementia.
Elsewhere in the magazine, we serve up tips on slow-cooking a brisket, shine a light on how technological
innovations are making caregivers' lives easier; and explore how dance can positively impact brain health,
and much, much more.
Our scientists continue to investigate therapies and lifestyle choices that will help our brains function their best.
Ongoing research is leading directly to innovations in caregiving and the programs we offer here in Toronto, across
Canada and worldwide.
Please play a role in supporting our ongoing mission to improve brain health for people
at every age. Visit baycrestfoundation.org or call our Donations Office at 416-785-2875.
Wishing you a healthy and happy fall and winter!
