SHARING RESEARCH
WITH THE PUBLIC
Science influences all aspects of
today's society, but most people do
not have the training or inclination
to read and understand research
results in specialty journals. Finding
ways to excite the general public
about fundamental science and
make the messages from scientists
stand out will ensure that today's
research has the most impact on
tomorrow's policy and practice.
In 2017–2018, the RTC launched two
outreach initiatives, neuroBRITE
and the Brain and Cognition
Course, to educate the public about
the research done at Baycrest and
provide an opportunity for trainees
to learn how to present complex
research in an engaging, accessible,
and captivating manner.
