"
I was lonely living
on my own. When I
found out I had Parkinson's,
I stopped driving and I
was confined to my house.
At the Day Centre, I have
found companionship
and friendship. I get a
chance to do things I
cannot do at home. I
learned photography. I was
taught how to paint, make
jewelry, and design silk
scarves. I love to give my
grandchildren and great-
grandchildren my artwork
as gifts, and they love to
see me doing all these
things in my nineties that
I never did before. When I
was sick in the hospital, my
friends from the Day Centre
kept calling me with their
well wishes and it helped
me to get better; knowing
that I had the Freeman
Family Day Centre to return
to.

BAYCREST COMMUNITY
DAY CENTRE FOR SENIORS
Adult day programs are part of a long and
enduring tradition at Baycrest. Our first adult day
centre opened in 1959 and was the first of its kind
in Canada.
FREEMAN FAMILY DAY CENTRE
The Freeman Family Day Centre caters to older
adults who choose to live in their own homes
in the community, and who can benefit from
stimulating activities and opportunities to engage
with others on a regular basis.
Members enjoy door-to-door transportation on
shuttle buses, a hot, diet-controlled, kosher lunch,
as well as music and other programs that spark
creativity and discussion.
The day centre offers counselling, support and
education for members and their families who
are able to access a wide range of other Baycrest
services, and can help facilitate referrals to
Baycrest consultants including psychiatry and
psychology.
