Memory Link is a unique outpatient service that was established to assess, train and
support adults with moderate to severe memory difficulties following acquired brain
injury. Clients are trained in the use of mobile technologies (e.g. smartphones, tablets,
smartwatches) using research and theory-driven methods that tap into preserved memory
systems and cognitive abilities. Patients are also trained in memory strategies as needed.
Training lasts about 12 to 16 weeks with twice weekly appointments. The program also offers
an ongoing, biweekly, psychoeducational support group for clients, and a monthly spousal
support group for family members.
Eligibility: The program is designed for adults (age 20+) whose dominant complaint
is memory impairment. Individuals referred should be medically stable, motivated to
participate in memory intervention, and able to attend an outpatient clinic. Memory Link is
not intended to address memory problems resulting from neurodegenerative processes
such as Alzheimer's disease, fronto-temporal lobe dementia, Lewy body disease, or
Parkinson's disease.
Referrals are accepted from healthcare professionals and can be faxed to 416-785-4235.
Fee: $150. Family members attend for free. Private health insurance plans may cover this
cost. The program does not turn away anyone who is unable to pay the program fee.
