Baycrest Volunteer Handbook 45 You are requested to refrain from using any scented personal products while at Baycrest. Lateness and illness Our clients and staff depend on the services of our volunteers. For this reason, all volunteers are encouraged to be punctual when reporting for their tasks. If you know you're going to be late or unable to attend, please call your assigned supervisor, providing as m uch advance notice as possible. If you are ill, stay home and inform your assigned supervisor immediately. Please make sure that you have their contact information. Dismissal In the event that a volunteer is found to have made a serious error in judgment, the volunteer may be immediately dismissed from volunteer activities at Baycrest and will be denied a reference. In some cases, charges of criminal cond uct may be laid and the person will be banned from the facility. Reasons for dismissal may include: • Stealing from Baycrest clients, staff, volunteers, family members or from project receipts • Engaging in an act of violence, including physical assault, neglect, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, sexual assault or financial material exploitation • Harassing a staff member, volunteer or client. • Alcohol or dru g abuse while representing the organization; • Using the records of clients for personal gain • A breach of client or volunteer confidentiality • Non-compliance with Baycrest's Code of Conduct
