Baycrest Volunteer Handbook 46 Tips and gratuities Accepting gifts from clients and family members is prohibited. The only possible exception to this would be gifts of nominal value that can be shared by a group of employees e.g.,chocolates at holiday times. In these cases anyone receiving the gift must report it to their immediate supervisor (date, giver, item, use). An employee who is offered a gift or g ratuity should suggest that the person offering the gift make a donation to Baycrest instead, in honour of the unit or group. (Baycrest Code of Conduct) Respect in the workplace Baycrest is committed to providing a working environment that places the utmost priority on respect for human dignity. This right is provided under the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
