T H E B R A I N P R O J E C T 2 0 1 9 24 Brianne Burnell is a mixed media artist based in Toronto. Her work combines digital painting, photography and collage to create playful abstract pieces that often include soft rainbows and sparkling crystals. Through her work, she investigates themes of healing, transformation and connection to nature. Brianne has worked as a professional artist since 2014 and has created artwork for Spin Master children's toys sold across the globe. Most recently, she has been working alongside the designers at Spin Master to develop the Kumi Kreator bracelet maker, which was named the 2019 Creative Toy of the Year. REBUILDING By Brianne Burnell Artist Statement How incredible it is that your brain can heal. Anorexia changes your brain structure, affecting your memory and ability to think. Through recovery, your brain rebuilds. With a blooming crystal surrounded by scattered fragments, Brianne imagines the inner workings of the brain through this healing process.
