T H E B R A I N P R O J E C T 2 0 1 9 50 Korean-born Kyong Boon Oh received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002, and her BS in Mathematics from Korea University in Korea in 1996. She was a painter before health issues forced her to stop painting. Now she is sculpting and a founding member of the Stone Sculptors Guild of Orange County (SSGOC). WALK SLOWLY By Kyong Boon Oh Artist Statement For artist Kyong Boon Oh, each of her artworks represents her journey of life, walking one step at a time. Life is a pilgrimage. The transcendent end is hidden in our own depths, waiting for the chance to occupy a conscious moment. She tries to be in the moment by putting herself in the position of labour-intensive repetition in a slow and meditative manner. This process clarifies her mind and releases her from the ambiguity of life. For Kyong, this sculpture is like a newly discovered road, which is intertwined in complexity, but in order.
