We will all benefit from this initiative," says Josh Cooper, President and CEO of the Baycrest Foundation. Baycrest@Home is still in a pilot phase and will expand over the coming months as various programs and services are tested and developed. Early users will provide critical feedback to help refine and optimize the services. INNOVATION BOOSTERS Paul and Pamela Austin have made an extremely generous donation toward innovation at Baycrest and new technologies that will help the aging population in the years ahead. They support the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), which helps innovators with the development, testing and dissemination of new ideas and technologies to address unmet needs in brain health and older adults' care. The couple and their family have long been associated with Baycrest, helping to support an international Visiting Scholars Program and the Morris and Sally Justein Heritage Museum, which is named for Pamela's parents. In addition, the couple has opened their home for a fundraising event in support of innovation, and Pamela is a long-standing volunteer at Baycrest. CAKES BY ROBERT: MAKING A DIFFERENCE A hockey team at the Scotiabank Pro-Am for Alzheimer's tournament is playing to honour the life of Sheri Taylor, who passed away earlier this year from complications of frontotemporal dementia. Sheri co-founded Cakes by Robert and helped make it successful alongside her husband, Robert. Now, the bakery is sponsoring a team, and a portion of every cake sold until the puck drops at the April 30- May 2 event will go to the cause. Funds raised by the tournament support care and research into Alzheimer's and related dementias at Baycrest. "Our family wanted to do something meaningful to honour Sheri," says Robert. "Support for research and care for people with dementia is incredibly important." To learn more about how you can support the team, go to cakesbyrobert.com.
