baycrestfoundation @supportbaycrest @Baycrest BrainMatters SPRING|SUMMER 2020 1 W elcome to the latest edition of BrainMatters magazine, bringing you timely information on brain-healthy living and ways to optimize your well-being. Continued innovations and progress in brain health are not possible without the generosity of our community of donors, volunteers, staff, clients and their families. We are pleased to bring you more stories and news about the best ways to stay brain-healthy and how we are dedicated to the fight against dementia. In our cover story, we interview actor-comedian and brain health advocate, Oscar Nunez. He is partnering with the Baycrest Foundation this summer as a featured artist for the 2020 Yogen Früz Brain Project to raise awareness and funds for our research into dementia. Oscar explains how watching his grandmother succumb to dementia was part of his motivation to get involved with The Yogen Früz Brain Project. Also in this edition, we explore how brain health care innovations are set to revolutionize the way we age; look at some of the more "brain-healthy" vitamins and minerals; share some tips on biking as part of a healthy lifestyle; and show how a passionate community of donors is shaping the future of aging care at home. Plus… much, much more. Our scientists continue to investigate therapies and lifestyle choices that will help our brains function at their best. Ongoing research is leading directly to innovations in caregiving and the programs we offer here in Toronto, across Canada and worldwide. Please play a role in supporting our mission to create a world where every older adult can enjoy a life of purpose, inspiration and fulfilment.
