As a field, as much as we need to continue to focus on treating cognitive, emotional and other types of frailty, geriatrics must also put more effort into investigating ways to promote health and well- being and prevent some of the disabilities that so many people around the globe think are inevitable but don't need to be. Global investors are betting on innovations that support the patient experience, address real- world problems and advance end-user adoption in communities all over the world. They are looking for value creation within healthcare, which means not merely finding ways of taking care of the sick, but rather preventing those individuals from getting sick in the first place. At Baycrest, we are already altering the way our clients interact with us. Baycrest@Home is one such program that is enabling a larger population to access key services. Our vision for the future is to expand our social impact to the benefit of older adults and their families. We are helping to transform the future of aging and brain health by working with organizations around the world through our knowledge and expertise dissemination arm, Baycrest Global Solutions (BGS). BGS is investigating myriad ways to bring to communities beyond Toronto the means to enact Baycrest's vision of a world where every older adult enjoys a life of purpose, inspiration and fulfilment. The aging boomer generation never waits for the future to define them. They relentlessly define it for themselves. Baycrest has embarked on a number of endeavors to embrace a future vision of growing old that will transform the challenges of an aging world, to a world of opportunities for aging adults.
