BAYCREST FRIENDS HELPING TO KEEP US SAFE T he COVID-19 pandemic required an immediate response to protect the 1,100 residents and patients with an average age of 91 who live on our campus and call Baycrest home, as well as thousands of older adults in the community who rely on our services. We are extremely grateful for the generosity that has supported Baycrest in taking extraordinary actions needed to defend against the virus and protect both the physical safety and emotional well- being of our seniors. The total value of these donations was more than $950,000. DONATIONS OF PPE KEPT US SAFE Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was in short supply in the early days of the pandemic. The community and many companies rallied and generously came to the rescue by donating boxes of items from their own businesses and warehouses. We are grateful for the masks, gowns, face shields and gloves that helped keep our staff, patients and residents safe. We are grateful to members of the community who recognized the dedication of our staff and generously reached out with gifts of appreciation. Donations included meals, clothing items, snacks, beverages, discounts, personal care products and other items. To make a donation, please visit: baycrest.org/sos 22 BrainMatters FALL|WINTER 2020
