BAYCREST CENTRE FOR LEARNING, RESEARCH & INNOVATION IN LONG-TERM CARE (CLRI) at BAYCREST The Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (CLRI) at Baycrest trials innovative learning approaches to train current and future healthcare providers to meet the needs of long-term care residents. Team Essentials, the flagship learning-to-performance program, fosters leading team practices and interprofessional competencies in the prevention of unnecessary emergency transfers, care coordination for dementia, and engagement of families in care. DIVISION OF TRAINING AND SIMULATION The Division of Training and Simulation develops educational products that are offered locally, nationally and internationally. The team produces unique and exciting products, such as a Virtual Reality app for dementia simulations, as well as an online learning module about responsive behaviours in dementia – all geared to the training of healthcare professionals and family members who care for older adults. E-LEARNING AND THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) The Learning Management System at Baycrest trains employees, volunteers, students and members of the community through interactive eLearning modules on a variety of topics, including patient safety, privacy, the use of hearing aids and guidelines for communicating after a stroke. An online version of Baycrest's successful Memory and Aging Program® was completed, and the team is also collaborating with Canada's National Ballet School to train instructors on teaching dance to residents of long-term care homes.
