Learning the Ropes for Living with MCI
focuses on optimizing cognitive health
through lifestyle choices, memory training
and psychosocial support. Mild Cognitive
Impairment (MCI) refers to cognitive decline,
commonly involving memory loss that is
greater than expected for age but does
not markedly compromise independence
in carrying out daily responsibilities. All
appointments are now being offered virtually.
Eligibility: A physician referral is required.
The group meets on Thursday mornings at
Baycrest.
Program fee: $150. Family members attend
for free. Private health insurance plans may
cover this cost. The program does not turn
away anyone who is unable to pay.
Referrals can be faxed to 416-785-4235.
Living with Mild Cognitive Impairment:
A Guide to Maximizing Brain Health and
Reducing Risk of Dementia is written
by Baycrest Drs. Nicole Anderson, Kelly
Murphy and Angela Troyer. It is the first
comprehensive book to be published on
MCI and is available for purchase at Oxford
University Press and through amazon.ca.
