'Stick it' to Dementia
Only one month after the loss of his beloved wife, Colleen, to
Pick's disease last March, Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe joined a who's
who list of former NHLers at a press conference to launch the
fourth annual Baycrest International Pro-Am Hockey Tournament, and the newly established Gordie and Colleen Howe Fund
for Dementia Research.
Sports fans and hockey icons alike couldn't get enough of the
two-day tournament and draft night extravaganza, presented by
Scotiabank, which has now raised more than $7 million in its
four-year history.

Fore Stroke committee.
For the first time in its 19-year history, the Baycrest Golf Classic,
now known as Strokes Fore Stroke, raised a record $500,000
last August. Recognized as one of the best golfing experiences
in the Greater Toronto Area, the exclusive group of 72 golfers
played their own ball from start to finish. At the awards ceremony,
Sheila Loftus presented the first Syd Loftus Cup, named after
her beloved husband and past Baycrest president, to top fundraiser Lawrence Glazer.
