Nicole Iancovitz, Clinical Manager, Digital Health, Baycrest The world has changed since the COVID-19 global health crisis entered our lives. Although it has been an adjustment for society, establishing new methods of delivering care to an aging population is one of the highest priorities in this new world. At Baycrest, the establishment of a new Clinical Digital Health Department came at the right time. In May 2021, the Clinical Digital Health platform set up a new environment of virtual care to support the professional practice of clinical providers and to reorganize care for older adults at rising risk of worsening health outcomes. The primary goal of Baycrest's newly created Clinical Digital Health service is to create pathways that connect clients to providers, enhance their access to services and, through the offering of tech support, increase the number of older adults who feel empowered and enabled to use virtual technologies and therapies. "While the concept of the Clinical Digital Health Functional Centre has been years in the making at Baycrest, our idea to connect seniors virtually took root and became all the more relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic, when older adults living in the community suddenly found themselves socially isolated and unable to connect with needed resources — their healthcare providers or circle of care," says Nicole Iancovitz, Clinical Manager, Digital Health, Baycrest.
