A theme park-sized thank you to
everyone who participated in A Walk
for the Ages at Canada's Wonderland
on September 19, 2021!
The inaugural event welcomed families,
friends and companies to come together
and raise vital funds to help Baycrest
in its work to defeat dementia and help
older adults Fear No Age™.
Participants had a family-friendly walk
throughout Canada's Wonderland. The
benefits of exercise for the brain have
been well-established at Baycrest. Light
walks and other exercise can decrease an
individual's risk of developing dementia
by up to 40 per cent.
Marvin Gord, walk ambassador
Leading the walk was 100-year-old WWII veteran, Marvin Gord.
Marvin is one of Baycrest's most prolific walkers, having taken
over one million steps to raise money for Baycrest during the
COVID-19 pandemic. With hundreds of small flags and participants
donned in yellow, blue and purple, Marvin led the starting line as
the official walk ambassador.
Following their walk, participants spent the day enjoying roller
coasters, rides, face painting and other attractions at Canada's
Wonderland.
Funds raised went towards Baycrest's four pillars of research,
innovation, care and education in support of the organization's
vision of a world where every older adult enjoys a life of
purpose, inspiration and fulfilment.
Thank you to everyone who joined A Walk for the Ages so
that we can all Fear No Age™!
