22 • BrainMatters • Spring/Summer 2022 SCENE AROUND BAYCREST With world-leading research, innovation, care and education, Baycrest is committed to defeating dementia and giving everyone the tools they need to make their later years the best years of their lives. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our community of supporters we're able to stay connected to our donors and broader community through in-person and virtual hybrid events, like Humour Me, and through virtual engagements like our educational webinars, Women Friends of Baycrest and Baycrest Buddies. We also invested in new technology and studio equipment to improve the quality and delivery of our virtual programs like Baycrest@Home. Most importantly, we continue to recognize the dedication and commitment of our staff and volunteers with ongoing appreciation events. Humour Me is a charity event where a group of committed sponsors, brave CEOs and stand-up comedians come together to raise money for worthy causes. The October 2021 Humour Me event benefited Baycrest. The lineup, from left to right: Gerry Dee, Lisa Raitt, David Kassie, Robin Kovitz, Shawn Majumder, Josh Cooper and Warren Kimel. As part of Baycrest's social recreation programs, themed outings to The Nosh were arranged for residents. Outings included performances, games and themed treats. The Brain Project returned to Yorkdale Shopping Centre for fall and winter 2021 to inspire shoppers and spark conversations about brain health and aging. Baycrest@Home launched a new studio space in winter 2021 on the Baycrest campus. This space will be used to develop webinars, film classes for virtual programming and more.
