BrainMatters • Fall/Winter 2022 • 3 Welcome to the latest edition of BrainMatters magazine, bringing you timely information on brain-healthy living and ways to optimize your well-being. Baycrest is working to change the future of aging, and our Fear No Age™ fundraising and awareness campaign continues to inspire our community by reminding everyone that growing old isn't the beginning of the end, it's the start of a whole new beginning. Together, we will defeat dementia and provide everyone with the tools they need to make their later years the best years of their lives. We continue serving older adults, their families and caregivers with world-leading aging and brain health care, as we have done for more than a century. Community members are accessing our accumulated knowledge in brain health care, research, innovation and education locally, nationally and across international borders. This is helping people everywhere benefit from our experience. Our cover story is a spotlight on the inaugural Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health. In its first year, this incredible cycling event raised more than $3 million in support of Baycrest! We interview three cyclist-fundraisers who give their unique perspectives on what the ride meant to them. Elsewhere, we look at how artificial intelligence technologies and research into the benefits of exercise are both helping to create healthier brains; we update our critical work with the new Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health and Wellness; and we share a brain healthy recipe you can use in your fall menu planning. Plus… much, much more. Our advances in brain health science are not possible without the generosity of our community of donors, volunteers, staff, residents and their families. Please play a role in supporting all our efforts to defeat dementia. Call our Donations Office at 416-785-2875, or make your gift to Baycrest by visiting fearnoage.com. Now more than ever, help us. Fund Fearlessness. Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy fall and winter. Josh Cooper President & CEO Baycrest Foundation Josh Cooper, President & CEO, Baycrest Foundation FEARLESS THINKING
