Arts & Crafts 6 week program, fixed Thursdays, October 26; November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Creative Arts Studio Class size: 15 Introduction to Watercolour Painting & Colouring/Painting Risk Factors: social connections, cognitive engagement Instructor: Elaine Sugar Jump into watercolour painting by learning basic skills, techniques, and concepts of the medium. Topics include: the application of washes, wet-on-dry and wet-into-wet approaches, glazing, controlling water, colour theory, composition, and brushstrokes. Enjoy lots of demos and individual attention to help you awaken your inner artist. 6 week program, fixed Sundays, November 12, 19, 26; December 3, 10, 17 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Creative Arts Studio Class size: 12 Needle and Wet Felting for Beginners Needlecraft/Felting Risk Factors: social connections, cognitive engagement Instructor: Monika Aebischer Discover the joy of felting as you learn essential techniques and explore the creative possibilities in a relaxing and engaging environment. In this hands-on workshop, Monika will guide you through the basics of needle felting, using barbed needles to sculpt wool into three-dimensional forms. You'll also explore wet felting, transforming loose fibers into solid fabric through water, soap, and hand manipulation. Unleash your creativity and join us for an enriching felting experience. Introduction to Embroidery: Coaster Making Class Needlecraft/Embrodiery Risk Factors: social connections, cognitive engagement Instructor: Iris Weverman This class is perfect for all new and aspiring embroiderers. You will learn all about stitches, hoops, floss, and fabric, so that you can design a beautiful handmade coaster. 6 week program, fixed Tuesdays, October 18, 25; November 1, 8, 15, 22 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Creative Arts Studio Class size: 15 Drawing with Coloured Pencils: Lessons for Beginners Painting & Colouring/Colouring Risk Factors: social connections, cognitive engagement Instructor: Elaine Sugar Learn professional techniques for creating beautiful coloured pencil drawings. Topics include: pencil application, layering, colour theory, and composition. Lots of individual attention and instruction is built into the class to expand your working knowledge and give you the freedom to play. Whatever other medium you enjoy, you'll find coloured pencil a worthwhile addition to your repertoire. 5 week program, flex Mondays, October 16, 23, 30; November 6, 13 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Creative Arts Studio Class size: 15 Mandala Art Painting & Colouring/Colouring Risk Factors: social connections, mental wellbeing Instructor: Maya Vinokurov Calm your mind and unwind with the art of the mandala. Delve into the history and benefits of drawing mandalas while creating your own vibrant work of art, which you can take home and be inspired by whenever life catches you off guard. Not a seasoned artist? No problem! This class is great for beginners. 5 week program, fixed Wednesdays, October 18, 25; November 1, 8, 15 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Creative Arts Studio Class size: 7 2 Fixed Program: You must start on the first day of the class series (i.e. you have to start at week 1 because each week builds skills upon skills). Flex Program: You can jump into the class at any week (i.e.. you can join at week 4 without having been in weeks 1-3).
