14 Writing Fiction Creative Arts/Creative Writing Gail Benick Writers are often advised to write what they know, but how do you use your life experience as a source for writing fiction? This 4-week course will focus on developing fictional stories based on people, places and events that are meaningful to paticipants. Participants will brainstorm story ideas, write the first draft of their story, receive feedback from the instructor and peers, then revise the story, incorporating what they have learned. 4 week program, fixed Activity Room B Mar. 5 to Mar. 26 Tuesdays, 3 - 4:30 p.m. A Playful Poetry Series Creative Arts/Creative Writing Rami Schandall This 6-session series is for anyone interested in playing with language! We will use an array of poetry techniques to uncover surprises in our creative process. Our medium will be writing and we will use all of our senses to bring it to life. Whether you are new to poetry, or an old hand at writing, there is freedom and fun to be had with strategies of experiment and play. 6 week program, fixed Creative Arts Studio & Activity Room A Mar. 11 to Apr. 15 Mondays, 2 - 3:30 p.m. Fraud Protection for Seniors Literacy/Financial Literacy Stan Swartz Learn what fraud is, how to recognize signs of victimization, what to do if you do become a victim to fraud, and the various types of fraud you might enounter. One-time lecture Activity Room B Jan. 12 Friday, 1 - 2 p.m. Planning for Retirement Literacy/Financial Literacy Stan Swartz Find out how you can effectively plan for the kind of retirement you desire.
