24 Nature New Year Nature-Based Escape/Class Series Emma Rooney Five Sense Nature School Nature-Based Escape/Class Series Emma Rooney Learn simple ways to connect with nature and the health benefits of going outside (even when it's cold). Try your hand at forest bathing, mindful birdwatching, nature journaling and more! This will be an interactive program where you can share your experiences with the group. No experience is required and people of all physical abilities are welcome to take part. This program helps you to build your connection to nature and empathy for our non-human neighbours. Each week, we'll focus on one sense— sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. A gentle sensory activity, followed by a playful creative exercise, will help you "lose your mind and come to your senses." 5 week program, flex Creative Arts Studio Jan. 29 to Mar. 4 (excluding Family Day) Mondays, 1:30 - 3 p.m. 5 week program, flex Creative Arts Studio Mar. 21 to Apr. 18 Thursdays, 9:30 - 11 a.m. Forest Bathing (Baycrest@Home) Nature-Based Escape/Virtual Emma Rooney Talk it Out, Work it Out Mind & Body/Mindful Movement Talk It Out, Walk it Out Facilitators Take the time to recharge with nature, even while indoors! Learn what forest bathing is and some of the benefits of connecting with nature. Take a guided nature visualization that will enliven all five senses and explore your immediate surroundings with new eyes. Join us from anywhere that's comfortable, preferably near a window. Talk it Out, Work it Out is a collaborative program created by The University of Toronto's Talk It Out Counseling Clinic and The Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. The program incorporates both educational and discussion-based activities related to mental health and physical activity, and is coupled with the performance of physical activity to improve seniors' wellbeing.
