10 Performing Arts Introduction to Songwriting Class Series/Songwriting Katie DuTemple Beginner Ballroom and Latin Dance Class Series/Dance Egor Belashov Sharing Dance with Older Adults Class Series/Dance Canada's National Ballet School Songwriting can be easier than it sounds. Using your own experience as a guide, you will learn how to write lyrics by rewriting existing favourites, followed by crafting a song from scratch as a group. Topics include song form, rhyming patterns, musical arrangement, and instrumentation. Basic music theory, genre, emotional expression, and phrasing will also be covered. No experience or technical ability needed, just a willingness to try something new! This course will introduce you to the wonderful world of ballroom and Latin dancing. We will cover the basics of dance favourites such as the Waltz, Foxtrot, Merengue, and Rumba. Classes are designed to give you the opportunity to learn footwork in both solo and partner formats. The Sharing Dance Older Adults program integrates storytelling, expression, and imagery into physical dance movements. Instructors will facilitate a supportive environment that encourages your authentic self while working through any hesitation around public speaking, being in front of an audience, or the unknown territory of theatre making. 6 week program, fixed Open Air Theatre Jan. 18 to Feb. 22 Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
