14 Introduction to Storytelling Performance/Storytelling Lynn Torrie Connect with others through the art of oral storytelling. You will learn the basic elements of an engaging tale and how to tell it, without notes! Every class is a chance to try out new skills, leading up to a performance for a small and friendly audience. This class is suitable for beginners. Stories will be supplied by the instructor. Community Choir Performance/Voice Michael Denomme Singing is so much fun in a group. Involve yourself in the Kimel Centre's very own community choir. This group will explore a variety of music, from different genres, styles, and musical eras. An emphasis will be placed on learning by experience, where all participants will sing in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. Singing Master Class Performance/Voice Katie DuTemple Open to all skill levels: the only requirement is being willing to sing in front of your peers! Participants will perform a piece and receive guidance on technique, interpretation, and emotional expression. Choose your own repertoire and learn how to make the most of your voice. Introduction to Songwriting Performance/Songwriting Katie DuTemple Songwriting can be easier than it sounds. Using your own experience as a guide, you will learn how to write lyrics by rewriting existing favourites, followed by crafting a song from scratch as a group. Topics include song form, rhyming patterns, musical arrangement, and instrumentation. Basic music theory, genre, emotional expression, and phrasing will also be covered.
