8 Fine Arts & Crafts A relaxing weekly drawing class for participants of all skill levels. Weekly still life arrangements will be on display for participants to draw. Learn about composition, value, positive and negative space, colour, and various mark-making techniques using different drawing materials like graphite, charcoal, and watercolours. Join us to explore and create beautiful realistic crepe paper flowers. Each class will focus on techniques for all levels of ability: starting with an introduction to the basics of stretching and shaping the paper, then building on that foundational knowledge with colouring, to making leaves and petals. Foundational Courses FIXED You must start on the first day of the class. FLEX You can jump into the program at any week. DROP-IN You can register for a specific session. NOTE Registration is required for ALL programs. We'll make paper mache bowls that can be used for many things. Over two sessions, participants make the bowls in the first class, then paint and finish our bowls in the second. Date(s) Day Time Sessions Oct 31 Thurs 12 - 2 p.m. 8 weeks, flex to Dec 19 Drawing for Everyone Designed for individuals who wish to get an introduction to, or reconnect with, the fundamentals of drawing. The structured curriculum guides members step-by-step, gradually building skills and confidence while exploring a variety of subject matter and drawing media. This beginner-friendly course provides a solid foundation for further practice and enjoyment of visual arts. Date(s) Day Time Sessions Nov 27 Wed 3 - 4:30 p.m. 4 weeks, fixed to Dec 18 The Art of the Fold: Origami Workshop Learn the Japanese art of Origami. This experience is a great way to meet new people and focus your mind as we make various paper animals and objects to decorate your space or give to a friend. Beginners are welcome. Date(s) Day Time Sessions Nov 25 Tues 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. 2 weeks, to Dec 2 drop-in Introductions to Mosaics: Make your own Trivet In this beginner class, the basics of creating a mosaic will be taught. Participants will be making a mosaic trivet using various glass tiles. Following a quick presentation on design elements and how to use the tools, members will design their trivet on a 6" X 6" MDF board. The final session will be spent grouting our mosaics.
