Social Connections Brain-Healthy Eating Cognitive Engagement Mental Wellbeing Physical Activity Talk it Out, Work it Out Try this groundbreaking program by The University of Toronto, bringing together both physical activity and mental health to improve overall wellbeing. We'll "Work it Out" with exercise led by Kinesiology students to get your heart rates up. Then "Talk it Out" together in small groups led by specially trained Masters of Social Work students. Heighten your connection to natural movement, work on flexibility, joint mobility, tension and pain relief. This heightened connection will lead to increased health and vitality. This program is suitable for all levels. Mindful Yoga Date(s) Day Time Sessions Sept 23 Mon 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. 8 weeks, flex to Nov 18 (excl. Oct 14) This practice is designed to add the healing, toning and balancing qualities of yoga to your life and a sense of mental stillness to your day. Elevate wellbeing and greater body awareness in both sitting and standing poses. Stretch and strengthen muscles to relieve tension in connective tissues. Promote good posture and restore balance. Each class ends with soothing guided relaxation. Introduction to Alexander Technique The Alexander Technique will improve your balance, strength, and flexibility, which, in turn, may prevent falls, and teach you to move with ease and confidence. You will receive the Zoom meeting link one day prior to the start of the session. Repetition is key to your successs: This class is offered twice a week (Mondays with Caprice, Wednesdays with Esther). Restorative Yoga Date(s) Day Time Sessions Sept 4 Wed 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. Weekly, flex to Dec 18 Restorative yoga is a style of yoga that encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Appropriate for all levels, restorative yoga is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, and deep breathing. Sept 6 Fri 10 - 10:45 a.m. Weekly, flex to Dec 20 (excl. Oct 4 & 18) Our Tai Chi/Qi Gong programs are tailored to the different needs of the group. Through a series of slow, gentle movements, while practicing a meditative state of mind and purposeful breathing, participants will experience the maximum benefit of movement while limiting wear and tear to their body.
