BrainMatters •Fall/Winter 2024 • 1 Josh Cooper President & CEO Baycrest Foundation THIS IS BAYCREST Welcome to the latest edition of BrainMatters magazine, bringing you timely information on brain healthy living and ways to optimize your well-being. In this issue, we look at the work of our researchers and doctors as they continue to expand the frontiers of medical and scientific knowledge. We also feature the many ways you can get involved in our mission to defeat dementia. Baycrest is laser focused on bringing together exceptional care, innovative research and inspiring education to benefit the wider community beyond our campus. Our work is guided by values that we put into practice every day: innovation, compassion, advocacy, respect, and excellence. This is all made possible due to the contributions of a multi-layered community that has been built over decades and includes staff, family, volunteers, event participants, and the generosity of donors. Our overriding commitment to society is to provide a life of purpose, fulfilment and dignity for every older adult. It's a bold, ambitious mission, but it's unchanged since Baycrest was founded in 1918. Also unchanged is our holistic approach to health that looks after the whole person with exemplary physical, psychological, and emotional care solutions. The services and programs we provide are based on the leading-edge research and clinical trials conducted by our globally renowned scientists and medical staff. I'm very proud of what we've built and the way Baycrest continues to thrive and play an important role in healthy aging. Please enjoy this issue of BrainMatters and feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments. Josh Cooper, President & CEO, Baycrest Foundation
