EVENTS AND STAKEHOLDER OUTREACH BAYCREST & UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO AT SCOTIABANK NUIT BLANCHE Led by Baycrest and the University of Toronto, My Virtual Dream premiered at Scotiabank Nuit Blanche on Oct. 5, 2013, in front of the Leslie L. Dan Pharmacy Building at the corner of University Avenue and College Street. My Virtual Dream created a unique opportunity for people to experience the exceptional brain science, embrace of culture and art, and holistic approach to healthcare that characterizes Baycrest. By crossing the boundaries of three disciplines (art, science and technology) My Virtual Dream allowed participants to experience a novel way of communicating through images and music. Participants used their brain waves to communicate with each other through Brain Computer Interface (BCI) headsets. They changed colours, sounds and images projected inside a 60-ft dome in real-time in response to synchronization of brain frequencies. My Virtual Dream at Scotiabank Nuit Blanche took Baycrest's exceptional brain science to the public by engaging: • Over 500 research participants; • 1,659 public spectators; • 25 reporters from media outlets. In addition, thousands watched the event streamed live by video, and shared their experiences through conversations using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit. TAHSN hospitals also participated in these conversations. Below is an example of a tweet about My Virtual Dream from Mount Sinai Hospital: @MyVirtualDream @Baycrest @ sbnuitblancheTO Really cool exhibit!
