The highest amount obtained from the provincial government was 1.6 million which was awarded in 2000. This funding comes from the Foundation for Innovation/Ontario Innovation Trust in support for buying equipment for the Functional Imaging Research Network (FIRN) project. This type of grant is a special case due to the costs of the equipment required, and therefore produced a spike in the provincial grants trend. 2 . 3 . 1 . 4 G r a n t s f r o m i n d u st r y Figure 22. Grants from industry partnerships, n=19 The RRI has had success in obtaining grants from industry partnerships, although this type of grant has been received less frequently than the federal and provincial grants.
