The RRI also obtains research grants through other sources such as societies, associations and
other foundations (FDNs) as shown by Figure 23.

The RRI has been successful at obtaining grants from other sources including societies,
associations and foundations (FDNs). According to Figure 23, in 2012 the RRI received $2.73
million, the highest grant value from this type of funding. However, it should be noted that this
sum is the result of an overlap from the remaining of a ten year grant and two other small
grants. Thus, this high value is causing a spike in this trend.
The main sources of funding for this category comes from the Heart and Stroke Foundation
(HFS) and from the JS McDonnell Foundation (JSMF), USA.
