The RRI has been successful at obtaining research grants from the federal government. Figure
20 shows the value of the grants obtained from the federal government since 1989. The Tri-
Council Agencies, Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and
Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities
Research Council (SSHRC), are a major source of research funding.
