Since 1989 the RRI has obtained a total of 1,188 grants over the past 25 years. Figure 25
shows the growing trend in the number of grants obtained in each of the five-year investigated
as well as per year.

From Figure 25 A, it can be seen that the RRI has been increasing, in each of the five-year
period studied, the number of grants obtained from external sources (federal, provincial,
industry, associations, societies and FDNs). For instance, two scientists at the RRI have
