1 Intro ductio n
Assessing the impact that the Rotman Research Institute (RRI) has on the neuroscience field,
society and the economy is fundamental to understanding its scientific assets, publications
trends, research output, media outreach, academic performance, public participation in research
studies, and so forth.
The present report contains bibliometrics indicators that can be used to assess the RRI's impact
and aims at providing an overview of the impact of the RRI research activities since 1989.

The RRI's scientific productivity analysis was based on the number of articles and reviews
present in the Scopus database. Figure 1 presents the growth in the number of RRI publications
in five-year time spans starting from 1989. It also shows the approximate number of scientists
present during each time period.
