RETHINKING BRAIN HEALTH & AGING R E Give to the Baycrest Annual Campaign today Our community can be very proud of what it has accomplished at Baycrest. Your contributions, involvement and high standards have built us into one of the leading care institutions on the continent. It is my duty and privilege to inform you about a watershed event - the re-launch of our Annual Campaign. This critical fundraising initiative will help Baycrest maintain and expand our care practices and world-leading research in the field of aging brain health to benefit us all in the future. The North American Seniors Quality Leap Initiative – a collaboration of prominent senior care facilities and their affiliated universities – recently ranked Baycrest among the best in the provision of quality care among organizations in North America. The credit for these accolades goes to you, for supporting us and demanding we go beyond standard care for our senior community members every single day. Unfortunately, this success comes with a cost. There is a significant gap between what the Ontario government will fund and what our client fees can cover, versus the actual funding support we need to maintain the highest standard of seniors care at Baycrest. The truth is - this crucial shortfall equals $12,000 per resident, per year. This difference has led to an ongoing funding gap that is particularly acute in our Apotex, Jewish Home for the Aged, Baycrest's 472-bed long-term care facility. Since the government has fixed its rate of funding and caps our fees, there is no way for us to increase revenue without help from the community. It is only through donor support that we can make up the shortfall and continue to provide the care our seniors deserve. Donations to the Baycrest Foundation's new Annual Campaign will go directly toward eliminating this gap and solving the shortfall. Donor support alone will allow us to fill the funding gap. Remember, the $12,000 of services Baycrest provides are what is necessary to ensure the quality of life that goes above-and-beyond what basic government funding and service fees can cover. This additional specialized programming and the extra special care given to each senior at Baycrest includes: • A private room for every resident and on-site medical services • Kosher meal service • Unique programming such as: pet therapy, dance therapy, concerts, creative arts studios and Baycrest's beloved Café Europa social club for our Holocaust survivor-clients • Premium health and safety features such as: personalized caregiving and round- the-clock wandering protection This suite of added-value services and the extra stimulation and socialization they provide, contributes greatly to seniors' care and treatment – and adds dignity to their lives. We need your help to ensure these services continue. Please support our Annual Campaign today. Visit Baycrest.org/rethink or call 416-785-2875 to speak to the Baycrest Foundation donations office. Thank you for helping us rethink brain health and aging.
