Annual Education Report 2014-2015 June 2015 Page 26 of 30 Tele-Education This provides an overview of Telehealth services at Baycrest for the period April 1 st 2014 – March 31st 2015. Tele-health services at Baycrest offer continuing education for health care professionals, clinical consultations and patient education to recipients distant to the hospital. This allows high-quality health care and education to be made available to remote areas. Specialist consultations for patients and residents at other organizations are provided in the areas of Tele-psychiatry, Tele-neurology and Geriatric Telemedicine. Baycrest maintains its reputation as a leader in Tele-health through our exceptional track record with international videoconferencing. Our premiere international program continues to be the Behavioral Neurology International Video-Teleconference Rounds that began in 2006. As an offshoot to these rounds, the Neurology International Residents' Videoconferencing Exchange (NIRVE) began in 2009. This educational program allows medical residents in the U of T Division of Neurology to interact, present, learn and discuss topics in a moderated monthly, hour-long videoconference forum with other residents in locations such as Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Russia and Israel. Of note, the Geriatric Mental Health Series while expanding nationally reached a milestone of an impressive 96 participating sites for just one telecast. Baycrest has retained its ongoing relationships with Canada International Scientific Exchange Program (CISEPO) that created the Peter A. Silverman Global eHealth Program for the international programming. Based on this internationally recognized success, the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) awarded an educational grant in 2013 to expand this initiative into an Africa-Canada series involving Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal and Canada. Baycrest is a partner in the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). With more than 1000 sites across Ontario; OTN is one of the largest telemedicine networks in the world, helping to deliver live and interactive clinical care and distance education among health care professionals and patients. Telehealth Activity Increased Tele-education events produced at Baycrest demonstrates our educational reach and has been identified as a key performance indicator (KPI) for the Centre for Education. Table 1 shows overall Telehealth activity by fiscal year and Table 2.1 and Table 2.2 show the types of educational programs produced and received at Baycrest.
