12 RTC Annual Report 2014 - 2015 Career Development Curriculum In recognition of the challenging post - graduate employment environment that currently exists, the RTC is committed to enhancing trainees' job market readiness through: 1. Self reflection & awareness – helping trainees reflect upon their vocational "likes" and "dislikes"; recognize their vocational strengths and weaknesses; reframe their skill set; and identify potential job domains of interest 2. Skill deve lopment – enhance the market readiness of trainees by developing tangible job seeking skills (e.g., communication, networking) and products (e.g., resume, elevator speech) 3. Increased knowledge of resources – provide a library of available resources to trai nees to assist them in their employment search 4. Experiential job opportunities – develop and implement internship programs with Baycrest and external partners to build work experience and facilitate networking opportunities In 2014 - 2015, the RTC developed and implemented: a) a five - week educational and skill - development curriculum to provide trainees with practical skills (e.g., resume writing, interview tips, effective networking) to successfully navigate the job market; and b) internal and external intern ship programs to build trainees' work experience, facilitate network connections, and validate career decisions. The initiative's primary goals were to build actionable support for trainees in the area of professional and career development and assist them in seeking employment opportunities.
