18 RTC Annual Report 2014 - 2015 About the Research Training Centre 1 Overview The purpose of the Baycrest Research Training Centre (RTC) is to provide a coordinated a nd integrated approach to technical and professional training that supports and promotes research excellence and enriches the experience of research trainees and other staff at Baycrest. Research trainees may be graduate or undergraduate students or postd octoral fellows. The RTC also facilitates and promotes cross - disciplinary and collaborative educational activities for trainees and staff while building social connectedness and a broad - based support system. Management The RTC is overseen by a steering committee comprised of RRI trainees, RRI staff, an academic director (scientist), and a research administrator. The RTC steering committee was reorganized in early 2015 to include six members with the following membership roles: Academic director Research administrator Graduate students Post - doctoral fellows Senior research staff members (e.g., program manager, lab manager, senior research assistant) Operated by trainees and staff , the RTC is focused on providing tailored programming as well as teaching and administrative experience to trainees and staff. 2014 - 2015 RTC Ste ering Committee Members Dr. Rosanne Aleong Senior Project Manager Jessica Arsenault Ph.D Student Aggie Bacopulos Lab Manager Buddhika Bellana Ph.D Student Dr. Maria D'Angelo Post - doctoral Fellow Nick Diamond Ph.D Student (continued)
