7 PSYCHIATRY: Evaluaon of an Affect Educaon Model to Support Caregivers in Caring for Seniors with Behavioural Issues Dr. Ken Schwartz and the team in the Psychiatry department deployed an Affect Educaon Model with healthcare providers in the Apotex Centre and Villa Colombo Home for the Aged to provide them with strategies to beer manage clients with significant behavioural issues. In evaluang this educaonal program, KLAERU has already assisted with the REB submission, recruited 18 Baycrest staff, assisted with data collecon using quesonnaires, conducted 2 focus groups at Baycrest, and is currently supporng qualitave and quantave data analyses. The Winter Garden Court in the Apotex Centre PSYCHIATRY: Prevenon of Alzheimer's Demena with Cognive Remediaon Plus Transcranial Direct Current Smulaon in Mild Cognive Impairment and Depression Dr. Linda Mah and her research lab are involved in a mul‐site, clinical intervenon study invesgang whether the combinaon of transcranial direct current smulaon (tDCS) and cognive remediaon in older individuals with mild cognive impairment or major depressive disorder can prevent cognive decline by increasing plascity and strengthening cognive skills. In spring 2015, KLAERU successfully recruited 10 parcipants in one month, and provided database management assistance. QUALITY & ACCREDITATION: Baycrest Client & Family Sasfacon Survey In winter 2016, KLAERU assisted the Baycrest Quality & Accreditaon team with the processing and analysis of 343 client and family sasfacon surveys. STATISTICAL CONSULTING In the past year, KLAERU has provided stascal consulng support for research projects including: • Idenficaon of outcome metrics and analysis of Baycrest's Fitness and Falls Prevenon intervenon data • Idenficaon of outcome metrics and analysis planning for data from the Baycrest Sensory Observaon System (SOS) app in recognizing and communicang changes in client condion • Idenficaon of outcome metrics and analysis planning to examine group acvies as an intervenon for persons with demena Resident and staff in the Apotex Centre
