BUILDING CAPACITY – RRI RESEARCH TRAINING CENTRE
The Rotman Research Institute Research Training Centre (RTC) at Baycrest is focused on building
global scientific capacity and fostering the next generation of leaders and science ambassadors
by: 1) providing world-class knowledge and training grounded in basic research; and 2) preparing
trainees to excel in their chosen careers across diverse sectors such as academia, industry, not-
for-profit, healthcare, and government.
With its core values of excellence, integrity, community, and empowerment, the RTC achieves its
vision through three main pillars of activity: research education, career and professional
development, and advocacy and communication. Over the past three years, the RTC has
expanded its training offerings extensively to include: workshops, lecture series, conferences,
experiential opportunities (e.g., internships), funding support, and mentorship.

Report for 2015-2016. RTC highlights in the period of April 1, 2015-March 31, 2016 include:
