International Students
For the past 5 years, the Centre for Education has partnered with Peking Union Medical College
(PUMC), Beijing, China by hosting medical and nursing students for 4 weeks in the summer.
During this Observership Program the students:
• Take part in small group learning sessions
• Participate in geriatric programs and research training
• Observe geriatric care at Baycrest
• Attend a site visit to another long term care facility
Our Report Card
The Centre for Education continues to work on making Baycrest as the destination of choice for the
students/trainees.
This is what students are telling us when asked about their experience at Baycrest:
• 78% participated in activities where two or more professions learned about, from and
with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes
(Interprofessional Education)
• 83% felt prepared to begin their at placement after orientation
• 89% of students had the opportunities to apply the learned theory/knowledge from
school to practical situations at Baycrest
• 92% student said they would recommend Baycrest as a placement to their fellow
student/trainee
• 93% would recommend their preceptor(s)/Supervisor(s) for future student/trainee
placements at Baycrest
• 94% of student said they received appropriate assistance to address any questions or
concerns they had about their placement
