External Awards & Recognition
It has been an outstanding year for our Baycrest teachers. Many have received awards and recognition
from academic institutions and we want to congratulate them on receiving recognition for their teaching
expertise.
Dr. Nicole Anderson, Senior Scientist has been made a Fellow of the American Psychological
Association.
Dr. Deirdre Dawson, Senior Scientist received the 2015 Department of Occupational Science and
Occupational Therapy Award for Excellence in Peer Mentorship from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Deirdre Dawson was honored by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) on
October 29, 2015, with the Mitchell Rosenthal Memorial Award.
Dr. Morris Freedman, Head of Neurology was elected as a trustee of the World Federation of
Neurology.
Dr. Regina Jokel, adjunct Scientist and Speech Language Pathologist was nominated for Weston
Brain Institute Outstanding Achievement Award.
Jackie Partnoy, Occupational Therapist received a Preceptor Leadership Award, Department of
Occupational Therapy, University of Toronto.
Karen Hirshfeld received the Therapeutic Recreation Ontario Mentor Award. This is an award
presented to an educator who has been influential to a student in Therapeutic Recreation.
Dr. Cindy Grief, Medical Director - Mood & Related Disorders Clinic and Lisa Sokoloff, Manager
Training and Simulation, are the recipients of the 2016 Ivan Silver Award for Excellence in
Psychiatry Continuing Professional and Practice Development.
