Dirk Westphal is a multimedia artist who lives in
New York City and works with photography, sculpture,
installation, music and performance art. His photo
series are united in their focus on artifice and mutation
as hallmarks of our culture. Westphal's recent work
includes exhaustive visual studies of overbred
goldfish. In this rendering for the Brain Project,
thoughts and memories are not unlike fish that swim
with purpose and intent. Murky water changes
everything. So does dementia.
