Alec Monopoly is the alias of an unidentifi ed graffi ti
artist who is originally from New York City and
currently resides in Los Angeles. His "gallery" for
many years was the billboards, walls and construction
sites in big cities, but his pop art images are also found
now in private collections and indoor galleries. It is
fi tting that an artist who has created so much street
art would contribute a piece to The Brain Project, one
of the most ambitious outdoor art exhibits hosted
in the city of Toronto. Alec Monopoly hopes that his
work – wherever it appears – creates conversation
and emotion. Alec incorporated his signature bright
colours and Wild Style freehand graffi ti on his Brain,
adding a fi nal layer of Black Abstract Lines that are
reminiscent of the waves seen on actual Brain Scans.
