KL-CARE Annual Report 2016-2017 Page 19 PLEASE PROGRAM EVALUATION KL-CARE'S IMPACT INCREASED CAPACITY KL-CARE found that the program increased volunteers' confidence and skills in providing activities for long-term care residents. ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE KL-CARE discovered that the program enhanced quality of life and meaningful engagement for residents. IMPROVED SATISFACTION KL-CARE found that Baycrest staff reported high satisfaction with PLEASE volunteers on the unit. The undeniable benefits of trained volunteers engaging with residents in long-term care were validated, which allows us the opportunity for growth and stability. PROMOTED EVALUATION KL-CARE developed an evaluation toolkit that can be used for additional spontaneous activity engagement programs. THE FUTURE OF PLEASE For the next phase of the study, KL-CARE will collaborate with other researchers at Baycrest to examine the impact of this program on individual residents' health outcomes. The PLEASE program will be scaled up to multiple units in the Apotex Centre, and it will also be compared with other cognitive stimulation programs offered to long-term care residents.
