Great
Canadians
It was a summer of fireworks and festivities for Canada's
150th birthday. To help celebrate, the TELUS Health Brain
Project went looking for—and found—six incredible, high
profile, iconic Canadians to get involved.
Our nod to the sesquicentennial received enthusiastic
support from skating champion Kurt Browning, sing-
er-songwriter John Mann, broadcaster Peter Mansbridge,
hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, 'Man in Motion' Rick Hansen
and Mila Mulroney, an artist, philanthropist and wife of the
18th prime minister of Canada.
Browning incorporated leftover skate blades into his
brain, while Mann's brain—rendered by artist Kevin
Dubois—used marbles that reflect the poignancy of
a time gone by, representing the "loss" that Mann is
experiencing as his early-onset Alzheimer's progresses.
The Baycrest Foundation is grateful to all of the great
Canadians who enriched the TELUS Health Brain Project
through their participation.
