Types of violence that are not acceptable at Baycrest include but
are not limited to:
• Domestic violence
• Physical abuse, including hitting or attempting to hit an
individual
• Sexual violence – touching or advances
• Verbal threats or psychological abuse
• Bullying
It is recognized that Baycrest has established a leadership position
in the field of aging and brain functioning whi
ch includes the
delivery
of highly specialized services in aging cognition and
mental health. Some of our patients may exhibit responsive
behaviours which present as symptoms of their health condition. In
these circumstances, Baycrest will provide appropriate training and
support for our employees, physicians, volunteers and private
companions, and offer clinical interventions and consultation to
address
risks that may present when caring for individuals with
responsive
behaviours.
If you experience violence or harassment while at Baycrest, please
inform your supervisor immediately. The supervisor or Volunteer
Services shall complete, in full, the safety event incident report via
the Safety Event Reporting System (SERS).
Accident and incident reporting
Volunteers shall report immediately any incident, accident or
hazardous situation to the area manager or supervisor. The
manager or supervisor or Volunteer Services shall complete, in full,
the safety event incident report via the Safety Event Reporting
System (SERS).
