13 Poetry for Beginners In this 4-session series, we will read and write poems together, using prompts and exercises to explore some of the building blocks of poetry. There is such freedom available in this flexible genre. With a 'beginner's mind' we can create what has never existed before — and we are all beginners when making something new. Date(s) Day Time Sessions Oct 24 Thurs 3 - 4:30 p.m. 4 weeks, flex to Nov 14 Like a collage, found poetry recycles words or phrases from existing texts and reorganizes them into something entirely new. In these two sessions, we will explore a range of techniques, from cut-up to blackout, from free-style re-work to structured centos — all to spark our creative language play. Playing with Language: Found Poetry Date(s) Day Time Sessions Sept 26 Thurs 3 - 4:30 p.m. Monthly, flex & Oct 10 PhoneMe Poetry Join us for a dynamic workshop introducing PhoneMe, an online platform connecting the world through poetry. Learn to craft, record, and share your poems, leaving a lasting legacy of words that captivate and inspire. Whether you're a seasoned poet or new to the art, this workshop will empower you to express yourself and connect with a worldwide audience in a poetic and memorable way. Date Day Time Session Sept 11 Wed 4 - 5 p.m. One-off Digitally Reconstructing Fashion Objects This course will explore the role of digitally scanning, modelling, and reconstructing fashion objects, both real and fiction, through the use of 3D, virtual, and artificial reality technologies. In doing so, the course will explore the role of digital tools in preserving dress materials found in archives, collections, and museum spaces. Date(s) Day Time Sessions Oct 21, Mon 5 - 6 p.m. Monthly, flex Nov 18, Dec 16 An Evolution of Fashion If you're interested in fashion, you'll enjoy this brief overview of the history of fashion from prehistoric times to modern day. We'll discuss how and why fashion has changed over the ages, and we'll take a glimpse into future fashion trends. This presentation is suitable for beginners with no prior fashion education. Date Day Time Session Sept 29 Sun 1 - 2 p.m. One-off CREATIVE ARTS The Creative Process in Fashion Design Explore the impact of inspiration on fashion design, from pop culture, social trends, personal experiences, other design disciplines, and historical references. Let's discuss how global design and color trends, as well as consumer behavior, influence designers' final choices. Date Day Time Session Sept 19 Thurs 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. One-off The Little EGG Gallery is an international art gallery for artists under the age of 18. Little EGG was started by a 13 year old artist, recognizing how difficult it is for young artists to display their artwork in a commercial gallery. Nalin, who is now 15, will talk about his journey through the art world. Little EGG Gallery: The Story Date Day Time Session Nov 17 Sun 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. One-off Driving Refresher Course Join an informative session to refresh you on the rules of the road.
