Annual Education Report 2014-2015 June 2015 Page 14 of 30 Student participants were from the following units in Baycrest: When asked what were the most important things they learned in their IPE sessions? Students reported: • Ethics • Communication techniques • Different roles in a team and how to work in a team • Learning about the different interprofessional teams, services, and departments all throughout Baycrest • Types of dementia • How the interprofessional team interacts, solves problems and collaborates • Palliative care • The overlap of healthcare practices among the professional disciplines • Focusing on client-centered care to engage in collaborative interprofessional teamwork Student evaluations indicate that IPE placements have a positive impact on how students provide patient care. With their ability to conceptualize the elements of collaboration and the knowledge gained from IPE activities, students have been able to apply these skills to their clinical activities and daily practice.
